Miso Soup of a Grilled Rice Ball with Bonito Flakes

The flavor of bonito flakes (katsuobushi) is appetizing. With a rice ball, this is a filling miso soup.

Ingredients (4 servings)

Grilled rice balls (frozen) 4
Mitsuba (Japanese honeywort) Several stalks
Katsuobushi 4 g
Dashi stock 800 cc
Miso 3-1/2 tablespoons

Directions

  1. Cut the mitsuba to 4 ~ 5-cm length. Heat the grilled rice balls.
  2. Bring the dashi stock to a boil and dissolve the miso. Add the mitsuba and boil for a short time.
  3. Place the heated grilled rice balls in bowls and pour in the miso soup of 2. Serve the miso soup with the katsuobushi on top.

★ A Note
Some frozen grilled rice balls are saltier. Change the amount of miso to your taste.
