Sanpei-jiru

Sanpei-jiru is a nutritious miso soup of salmon and plenty of root vegetables.

Ingredients (4 servings)

Salmon filet 120 g
Daikon radish 4 cm
Carrot 1/2
Konjac (Devil’s tongue) 1/4 cake
Ichimi-togarashi (Cayenne pepper powder) A pinch
Dashi stock 800 cc
Miso 3-1/2 tablespoons

Directions

  1. Cut the salmon filet into proper sizes and the daikon radish and carrot into small lumps. Boil the konjac in water to remove harshness and tear into pieces with a spoon.
  2. Boil the ingredients of 1 in the dashi stock.
  3. After the ingredients are cooked, lower the heat and dissolve the miso. Serve the miso soup in bowls with the ichimi-togarashi sprinkled to taste.

★ A Note

Sanpei-jiru is a local dish of Hokkaido and has been eaten for about 200 years.
